The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has sealed more than a dozen illegal coaching institutes amid massive public outrage over the death of three civil services aspirants due to rain-induced flooding in west Delhi's Rau's IAS Study Circle, whose bosses have been sent to 14 days' judicial custody. Meanwhile, expectedly so, a political slugfest has ensued in the national capital, with each party blaming the other for the incident.
According to preliminary investigation, the basement housed a library where several students were present. Water suddenly started flooding the basement. Ropes were used to evacuate the trapped students, officials said.
The new appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the personnel of the civic body's fire brigade launched a rescue operation. Around noon, the body of a man was recovered from under the debris, while the bodies of two others were recovered hours later, a civic official said.
While the authorities argued there was no instruction to put up the sheets, Haridwar district in-charge minister Satpal Maharaj said the action was taken to avoid agitation or disorder and to guarantee the Kanwar Yatra performed well.
The 900-page preliminary chargesheet names seven accused including the parents of the 17-year-old boy, who killed two IT professionals in the accident. However, the chargesheet does not include the prime accused as his case is being handled separately by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
The accused identified as Abhishek, was arrested in Bhopal where he fled after committing the gruesome murder of Kriti Kumari.
