At Semicon India 2025, Prime Minister Modi said that global confidence in India’s semiconductor ambitions is reflected in the participation of over 40 countries and a commitment to future reforms to strengthen the ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the inauguration of Semicon India 2025 in New Delhi that “the world trusts India, the world believes in India, and the world is ready to build the semiconductor future with India,” reflecting strong global faith in India's semiconductor capabilities.
He noted that delegations from over 40 countries attended the summit, showing international interest in collaborating with India on chip manufacturing.

Modi characterized semiconductors as the defining driver of the 21st century, saying: “Oil was black gold, but chips are digital diamonds,” and that even India’s smallest chip could create transformational global impact.
He noted that the global semiconductor market is projected to grow from $600 billion to over $1 trillion, and emphasized India's growing role in that expansion.
He further highlighted that since 2021, 10 semiconductor projects valuing $18 billion have been approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.
Modi announced that the government would soon introduce “next-generation reforms” to bolster the sector, as demonstrated by initiatives like the Design Linked Incentive scheme and the chip-to-startup program.
As part of the Indian semiconductor ecosystem, Modi also noted that 20% of the world’s semiconductor design talent is Indian, pointing to the country’s youth as a key factor in driving long-term industry growth.
