The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti alliance secured a thumping victory in the recently concluded state Assembly elections, winning 230 out of 288 seats. Nonetheless, the suspense over who will become the next chief minister continues even as state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis arrived in Delhi to discuss the next steps with BJP's top leadership.
The incumbent Mahayuti alliance clinched a massive victory by winning over 230 seats in the 288-seat state assembly election, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party, winning 132 out of the 149 seats it contested.
With the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance winning over 200 seats in the state assembly polls, Thackeray said there is "certainly something fishy as the results reflect a tsunami not a wave."
The BJP alliance claimed a historic win in Maharashtra, signaling a strong mandate for stability and development. Meanwhile, the JMM-led INDIA alliance, under Hemant Soren, held firm in Jharkhand, reinforcing regional power ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Sarma, the party’s co-in-charge for Jharkhand polls, congratulated the JMM for its impressive victory in Jharkhand while asserting that the NDA wanted to protect the state from infiltration and to lead it towards the path of development.
Priyanka got 6,22,338 votes which was less than the 6,47,445 votes received by her brother Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha polls in Wayanad in April this year, but her victory margin of 4,10,931 was more than his lead of 3,64,422 votes, despite the decline in turnout in the Wayanad bypoll.
After the certainty of the poll outcome, the focus has now shifted to BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, the architect of his party’s stunning victory. Political circles are abuzz with reports that the state’s second Brahmin to become the CM will don the post for the third time.
