world’s largest shivling

At dawn in Motihari, Bihar, the world’s largest shivling — a 210-tonne, 33-foot granite monolith — was installed at the Virat Ramayan Mandir, sparking powerful chants of “Har Har Mahadev” from thousands of devotees.

Crafted over ten years in Tamil Nadu and costing around ₹3 crore, the shivling features 1,008 smaller lingams carved on its surface and is designed to last centuries.

The event marked a milestone in faith and heritage, with priests performing sacred rituals using holy waters and flowers from across India and beyond.

Late Acharya Kishor Kunal, the visionary behind the project, was honored as dignitaries including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended the ceremony.

The Virat Ramayan Mandir, set to be the world’s largest temple complex by 2030, is expected to boost spiritual tourism and the local economy.

This historic installation is a powerful symbol of India’s enduring devotion and cultural pride.
