The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is hosting its fourth national summit on ‘Facilitating School-to-Work Transition’ in New Delhi on October 26 and 27, 2026. Organised in collaboration with the Sahodaya School Complexes of Delhi-NCR, the summit brings together school leaders, teachers, industry professionals and policymakers to explore ways to prepare students for future careers.

Four key priorities of the CBSE summit

At the inaugural session, T. K. Anil Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), highlighted four major areas for discussion:

Technology, digital safety and skills: Preparing students to use technology effectively and responsibly in a digital environment.

Design, creativity and innovation: Encouraging creative thinking and innovative approaches to learning and problem-solving.

Recognition of skills through the National Credit Framework: Supporting the recognition of skills and learning across different education systems.

Career guidance and equitable pathways: Helping students make informed decisions about education, training and employment opportunities.

The education secretary emphasised the need for smoother pathways connecting school education with higher education, skill development and employment. The objective is to help learners make informed choices, continue developing their capabilities and participate meaningfully in society.

Focus on skill education and future employment

The summit seeks to integrate skill education more closely with mainstream school curricula. Discussions are addressing changing workforce requirements and ways to equip students with competencies that will remain relevant in an evolving employment landscape.

Participants are also exploring innovative teaching methods, new assessment approaches and the use of digital technologies in education. These discussions are intended to identify practical models that schools can adopt to improve teaching and learning.

The initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises reducing the divide between academic education and vocational training. Strengthening this connection can help students explore diverse career pathways and understand the practical applications of their classroom learning.

Educators present case studies and best practices

Teachers and other educators from CBSE-affiliated schools are presenting case-based papers and posters highlighting successful practices and experiences in skill education.

These presentations offer participants an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss implementation challenges and learn from approaches adopted by different schools. The summit also provides a platform for networking and building partnerships that can strengthen career guidance and support for learners.

Through these discussions, CBSE aims to encourage practical strategies for making school education more relevant to students' future academic and professional choices.
