The mountain resort town in Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a massive influx of tourists arriving to celebrate a snowy Christmas and New Year, much to the pleasure of local hospitality and tour operators who are still trying to recover from the slump caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 50 passengers were stranded at Kuwait airport after the Mumbai-Manchester flight was diverted due to technical glitch. The passengers alleged that the airport staff did not provide basic assistance to them while UK and US passport holders were given visa-on-arrival.
Applicants must ensure their credit or debit cards have sufficient funds when applying for a visa. The required balance is 5,000 Dirhams (approximately ₹115,000) for a two-month visa, and 3,000 Dirhams (around ₹69,000) for a three-month visa.
The temporary policy, which called for more thorough security checks for visitors to India, was announced on Nov 18 by Transport Minister Anita Anand, who said the extra measures were put in place "out of an abundance of caution."
