Drunk relative opens fire at naming function in Kasganj as minor dies during treatment, accused arrested with weapon.

A 9-year-old boy was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj after refusing to fetch water to mix with liquor during a family naming ceremony, police said.
The incident took place on May 2 in Yakutganj village under Sahawar police station limits, where relatives and villagers had gathered for the function at the child’s home.

According to the victim’s uncle, Anuj, the accused identified as Dhanesh Yadav, son of Sukhveer Yadav and a relative of the boy’s father Jasveer Gola asked the child to bring water while he was consuming alcohol. When the boy refused, the accused, allegedly intoxicated, lost his temper and fired at him, hitting him in the stomach.
Chaos erupted at the ceremony immediately after the shooting. The injured child was rushed to the district hospital in Kasganj and later referred to Aligarh as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries on May 3 during treatment, officials confirmed.
Station House Officer Govind Ballabh Sharma said a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the family.
The accused fled the scene but was later arrested near the Khitauli canal bridge. Police recovered the firearm used in the crime from his possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Bharti said the accused is being sent to jail, and the case is under investigation from all angles.
