Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has urged PSUs, banks and corporate houses to direct a substantial share of CSR funding towards school infrastructure and improving children's nutritional health.

Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has appealed to central public sector undertakings (CPSUs), banks and private corporate organisations to allocate a substantial portion of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to strengthen government schools and colleges and improve child nutrition across the state.
The appeal was made during an orientation programme organised to discuss the effective implementation of the Bihar State Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy, 2025. The initiative aims to encourage greater participation from the corporate sector in Bihar's development programmes.

According to an official release cited by news agency PTI, Amrit emphasised that children's welfare should remain a priority for all stakeholders. He said investments in education, healthcare and nutrition are essential for building a stronger future.
The Chief Secretary encouraged companies to use their CSR contributions to improve basic infrastructure in government schools and colleges. He also highlighted the importance of addressing malnutrition and improving children's overall health.
One of the proposed interventions involves providing food baskets in schools to improve children's nutritional status. The government wants corporate organisations to support initiatives that can make a meaningful difference to children's health and well-being.
Amrit also stressed that CSR-funded projects should be aligned with the Bihar government's development priorities to promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
Explaining the funding mechanism, Amrit said companies have two options for contributing towards projects under the state CSR framework.
They can either transfer their CSR contributions directly to the Bihar State CSR Society or select projects listed on the dedicated CSR portal and release funds to the respective implementing agencies.
The framework is intended to make corporate participation in government development initiatives more organised and effective.
Representatives from several central public sector undertakings, banking institutions and corporate houses participated in the orientation programme.
During the event, Finance Department Secretary (Expenditure) Rachna Patil presented the vision and implementation timeline of the Bihar CSR Policy 2025. She also explained its six-stage implementation process, covering registration, project selection and the utilisation of funds.
The initiative reflects the Bihar government's efforts to mobilise corporate resources for strengthening public infrastructure and improving social development outcomes, particularly in education, healthcare and child welfare.
