According to the department's communication to district-level authorities, the instructions must be implemented on priority. District officials have been asked to monitor compliance and ensure that schools follow the prescribed guidelines.

75% Attendance Rule for Girl Students

One of the key instructions concerns student attendance. The education department has asked school authorities to strictly enforce the 75% attendance requirement for girl students.

The directive aims to improve regular classroom participation and ensure that students remain connected with their academic activities throughout the school year.

School administrations and district officials will be responsible for monitoring attendance and taking necessary steps to ensure compliance.

Special Classes for Students Failing Class 9

The department has also highlighted the need to provide additional academic assistance to students who fail Class 9.

Under the new instructions, Saraswati Vidya Niketan schools have been asked to organise special classes for unsuccessful students. The initiative is intended to help them address learning gaps, strengthen subject knowledge and improve their academic performance.

The department has asked officials to give this measure high priority.

Bihar Education Department Issues Six Key Instructions

Apart from attendance and additional academic support, the education department has outlined several administrative measures to improve the functioning of Saraswati Vidya Niketan schools.

The major instructions include:

1. Avoid police accommodation: Schools should not be used to provide accommodation to police personnel as far as possible, so that regular educational activities are not disrupted.

2. No examination centres: Authorities have been asked to avoid establishing examination centres on the premises of these model schools. If necessary, the District Education Officer may recommend alternative examination venues.

3. Address staff shortages: Schools without clerks or attendants should arrange for personnel to be deputed from nearby government schools.

4. Improve morning assemblies: Schools must ensure the proper organisation of morning assemblies, known as Chetna Satra.

5. Appropriate use of musical instruments: Authorities have been instructed to ensure the proper use of musical instruments during morning assembly activities.

6. Regular monitoring: District officials must nominate officers to regularly inspect and monitor these arrangements.

These measures are intended to ensure that administrative responsibilities do not interfere with teaching and learning activities.

District Officials Asked to Ensure Compliance

The Bihar Education Department has asked district authorities to treat the instructions as a priority and ensure their effective implementation across all Saraswati Vidya Niketan schools.

The latest directive reflects the state's broader efforts to strengthen government model schools through better academic supervision, improved student attendance, additional learning support and efficient administrative management.

The focus on special classes for Class 9 students is particularly significant as it seeks to provide additional educational assistance to students who have not cleared their examinations.
