The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the doubling of the Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga and Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur section in Bihar covering 256 km. It also approved construction of a new line between Errupalem and Namburu via Amaravati covering 57 km.

Office of the Superintendent of Police (Patna-East) issued a statement during the day, directing all "station house officers to keep an eye on the accused, earlier arrested for the alleged violation of prohibition laws".
