SC slams UP Govt for demolition of house, orders ₹ 25 lakh compensation

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud was hearing a suo motu writ petition registered in 2020 based on a complaint by Maharajganj resident Manoj Tibrewal Aakash, whose house was demolished in 2019. CJI said walking into somebody’s house and demolishing it without notice is lawlessness.

As soon as the assembly proceedings began, J-K Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary moved the resolution for restoring the special status of J-K, which was revoked by the Modi-government on August 5, 2019.

3 workers dead after concrete blocks collapse at bullet train site in Gujarat

The incident took place on Nov 5 evening and immediately local fire officials as well as the police team rushed to the spot to launch rescue operations. A worker was rescued from underneath the debris of blocks, according to officials.

SC upholds constitutional validity of UP Madarsa Act, bars Board from awarding ‘Fazil and Kamil’ degrees

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud set aside the March 22 ruling of the Allahabad High Court which held the Act was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court said that the awarding of higher degrees —Fazil and Kamil was unlawful since it is in conflict with the provisions of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
