Following the signing of a mutual defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, India affirms commitment to safeguard its interests and track regional stability.

India has said it will examine the implications of the newly signed Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to assess its potential impact on national security and regional stability.
The statement comes after Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed the pact during Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s state visit to Riyadh.

The agreement, signed in Riyadh during Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s state visit to Saudi Arabia, declares that any attack on one signatory will be treated as an attack on the other.
Responding to media questions in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We will study the implications of this development for our national security, as well as for regional and global stability. The Government remains committed to protecting India’s national interests and ensuring comprehensive national security in all domains.”
Indian officials noted that the defense pact had been under consideration for some time and includes commitments such as joint response and deterrence against aggression.
Reports said the signing followed a summit in Doha where leaders from about 40 Islamic nations discussed proposals for a NATO-like alliance after heightened tensions in the region.
The Ministry of External Affairs added that India will continue to monitor developments closely and take necessary measures to protect its strategic interests as the region adapts to the new defence arrangement.
