The revised bill excludes President-elect Donald Trump's controversial proposal to abolish the debt ceiling, which would have helped the incoming president enact his agenda. The demand, rejected by his own party members, failed to garner support in the House.
“Reciprocal. If they tax us, we tax them the same amount. They tax us. We tax them. And they tax us. Almost in all cases, they're taxing us, and we haven't been taxing them,” President-elect Trump said while noting if India charges a 100% tariff on US goods, the US will do the same in return.
The law, supposed to take effect on Dec 13, proposed stricter penalties for women and girls who failed to fully cover their hair, forearms and lower legs, including fines and longer prison sentences of up to 15 years.
