PM Modi announces fast-track courts to crack down on exam paper leaks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the government will establish fast-track courts to ensure swift trials and stringent punishment for those involved in examination paper leaks, marking his first public response to the nationwide outrage over recurring exam scandals.

The announcement came against the backdrop of sustained student protests in Delhi and heated exchanges in Parliament, where the opposition has demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issue.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister described paper leaks as a "betrayal of the aspirations of millions of young Indians" and assured students that the government would adopt a zero-tolerance approach against those responsible.

"We will ensure that every person involved in paper leak conspiracies faces speedy justice. Fast-track courts will be set up to deliver swift and stringent punishment. The future of our youth cannot be compromised," Modi said.

He also announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening the integrity of the country's examination system, including tighter security protocols, enhanced digital surveillance, stricter accountability for examination authorities and closer coordination between central and state agencies to prevent future breaches.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the government was committed to protecting the interests of students and restoring public confidence in the examination process.

His remarks come amid growing anger over multiple examination paper leak cases reported across the country, which have triggered widespread protests by students and opposition parties. Demonstrators have accused the government of failing to safeguard the credibility of competitive examinations and have demanded strict action against those responsible.

The opposition has intensified its attack on the government, raising the issue repeatedly in Parliament and calling for greater accountability over the handling of examination irregularities.

With the announcement of fast-track courts and tougher enforcement measures, the government has signalled a more aggressive legal response to curb examination-related fraud and reassure millions of students preparing for competitive examinations.
