The contribution will support Assam's ongoing flood relief efforts as the state continues rescue and assistance operations in areas affected by rising water levels and widespread flooding.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and the people of the state have contributed Rs 1 crore to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support relief and response efforts following the devastating floods in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Taking to social media platform X on Aug 11, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his gratitude to the Manipur Chief Minister and the people of the neighbouring state for their "generous contribution" towards Assam's flood response.

"I sincerely thank Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and the people of Manipur for their generous contribution of Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund towards the #AssamFloodsResponse," CM Sarma said in a post.
The Assam Chief Minister described Assam and Manipur as "sister states", saying that the relationship between the two states extends beyond geographical proximity and is rooted in shared history and kinship.
"This act of generosity reflects the enduring spirit of oneness among the people of the North East," CM Sarma said.
He also thanked the people of Manipur who had extended their support to Assam during the flood crisis.
"To everyone in Manipur who stood with Assam in this hour -- thank you, from the bottom of my heart," CM Sarma added.
The contribution comes as Assam continues to deal with the impact of the annual floods, which have affected large areas of the state and disrupted normal life in several districts.
The Assam government has been undertaking relief and rescue operations in the affected areas, with authorities providing assistance to people forced to leave their homes due to rising water levels.
The latest gesture from Manipur underscores the support and solidarity among the Northeastern states during natural disasters and emergencies.
The two states share historical, cultural and geographical ties, and their relationship has frequently been reflected in mutual support during crises.
Meanwhile, the Assam Cabinet also took several important decisions on Tuesday, with CM Sarma sharing highlights of the meeting chaired by him in Dispur.
The state government has been mobilising resources and coordinating with various agencies to strengthen the ongoing flood response and provide relief to affected communities.
The Rs 1 crore contribution from Manipur is expected to supplement the relief efforts being undertaken by the Assam government for flood-affected people.
