KTR to join Hyderabad student protest over NEET row, backs right to dissent

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on July 23 announced that he will be joining a protest by the student wing of the party in Hyderabad on Friday in solidarity against the 'crackdown' on students and youth in Delhi.

BRSV, the student wing of BRS, plans to hold a massive protest at Indira Park here on Friday.

Rama Rao took to ‘X’ on Thursday to announce that he will join the protest to show solidarity with students and youth protesting in Delhi over the NEET exam paper leak, demanding accountability from the Central government.

“The voice of India's youth cannot be crushed through force. I will be joining the BRSV protest tomorrow at 10:00 AM at Indira Park, Hyderabad, in solidarity against the brutal crackdown on students and youth in Delhi,” posted KTR, as the BRS leader is popularly known.

“I appeal to students, youth and everyone who believes in democracy to join us in standing up for the constitutional right to dissent,” he added.

Meanwhile, BRS said in a statement that in solidarity with students and youth facing suppression and atrocities in Delhi, BRSV is organising a massive protest at Indira Park against the Central Government’s actions.

The protest aims to express support for students and youth and condemn the crackdowns and actions against them, it said.

KTR will participate in the protest and extend support to the students’ movement. A large number of students, youth, and BRSV activists are likely to participate in the protest.

A joint forum of student organisations has called for a statewide bandh of educational institutions across Telangana on Friday (July 24), demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over NEET exam paper leak and other alleged irregularities in the conduct of the examination.

Telangana state units of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students’ Federation (AISF), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), All India Forum for Democratic Students (AIFDS), All India Students Bloc (AISB), and All India Progressive Students Union (AIPSU) have called for the shutdown of educational institutions.
