The National Unified Registration and Admission Platform has reduced the application process from eight steps to three, using government data to remove the need for students to submit documents manually.

Students applying to universities in the United Arab Emirates can now complete registration in three minutes, down from 10 minutes, following improvements to the country’s National Unified Registration and Admission Platform.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) announced the reduction during the seventh meeting of the Higher Education Committee in Dubai on Oct 18. The changes represent a 70% cut in registration time, while the number of steps required has fallen from eight to three.

Operating through the EduHub digital gateway, the platform retrieves applicants’ information automatically from three official government data sources, eliminating the need for them to submit documents manually during registration.
It also recommends suitable academic programmes from more than 1,000 options and enables applicants to track their applications until an admission decision is issued.
AI and data integration in university admissions
The improvements form part of the UAE’s broader efforts to simplify higher education services through digital integration and artificial intelligence (AI).
During the committee meeting, officials reviewed university admission results for the 2026–2027 academic year and discussed the use of AI to improve services and help students identify academic programmes suited to their needs.
The committee also reviewed improvements in the quality of information submitted by federal universities following the introduction of a Data Quality Dashboard. The ministry said the dashboard had helped improve the accuracy of institutional data.
New regulatory framework for higher education
The meeting also examined regulatory changes introduced in 2026, including requirements for licensing higher education institutions, service fees and administrative penalties for violations.
Officials discussed a proposed national framework for assessing university performance, education quality and institutional oversight. To explain the new regulatory requirements, the ministry has held three dialogue sessions and two workshops attended by 566 representatives from universities, training institutions and other education providers.
The committee also discussed preparations for the first UAE Award in Higher Education, which recognises universities, projects, individuals and partners contributing to the sector.
The ministry said the initiatives are intended to improve the efficiency and quality of higher education services while aligning university outcomes with the country’s economic priorities and labour-market needs.
