The partnership will support postgraduate education, faculty collaboration and research exchange, while the two institutions also signed an agreement to train engineers with advanced technical expertise.

Higher education cooperation between China and Egypt has gained a new institutional platform with the launch of the Benha-Wuhan Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, a joint initiative established by China's Wuhan University and Egypt's Benha University.
The faculty held its first opening ceremony at Benha University, bringing together representatives from both universities and the Chinese Embassy in Egypt. The initiative is aimed at strengthening academic exchanges, promoting knowledge sharing and developing talent through cross-border educational cooperation.

According to the China Daily, the joint faculty is being positioned as an important step in expanding educational ties between the two countries. It is also expected to provide a platform for closer engagement between their academic institutions through postgraduate education, scientific collaboration and the exchange of expertise.
Lu Chunsheng, minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, described the initiative as a major component of China-Egypt cooperation in higher education.
Addressing the ceremony, he said the faculty is a flagship project of bilateral educational cooperation and represents the two countries' shared efforts to strengthen academic relations and prepare skilled professionals for the future.
He also highlighted the importance of the partnership in jointly developing talent and expanding cooperation between educational institutions in China and Egypt.
Wuhan and Benha universities aim to strengthen academic exchanges
Zhang Pingwen, president of Wuhan University, said the two institutions had come together to establish the postgraduate faculty with the objective of creating stronger links between their academic communities.
He described the joint initiative as a bridge for knowledge sharing and educational exchanges between China and Egypt. The collaboration is expected to encourage closer academic engagement and provide opportunities for both institutions to exchange knowledge and expertise.
The partnership also reflects the universities' intention to develop a sustained academic relationship rather than limit cooperation to individual exchange activities.
Nasser El-Gizawy, president of Benha University, said his institution would continue working with Wuhan University to expand the scope of their collaboration.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening professional and academic exchanges between the universities, while developing long-term connections for scientific and cultural cooperation.
The Benha University president also highlighted the role of the partnership in building lasting links between the two institutions through shared expertise and continued engagement in higher education.
China and Egypt sign agreement to train outstanding engineers
Alongside the opening ceremony, the presidents of Wuhan University and Benha University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focused on cooperation in training outstanding engineers.
The agreement adds an engineering education component to the broader academic partnership between the two universities. It is intended to strengthen cooperation in developing engineering talent through institutional collaboration.
The MoU also provides another avenue for the universities to work together in academic and professional training, complementing the establishment of the Benha-Wuhan Faculty of Postgraduate Studies.
With the launch of the joint faculty and the signing of the engineering training agreement, Wuhan University and Benha University are expanding their cooperation across postgraduate education, knowledge exchange and professional development.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by China and Egypt to deepen educational cooperation and create opportunities for scientific, academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
