The Madhya Pradesh Board has revised internal-choice rules for the 2026–27 academic session, retaining options in three- and four-mark questions while introducing them in selected vocational subjects.

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has revised the internal-choice pattern for examinations covering Classes 9 to 12 from the 2026–27 academic session. The changes will affect question papers in major subjects as well as subjects covered under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
According to the board's notification dated October 15, 2026, internal choice will no longer be available in two-mark questions in major subjects. However, the option will continue in three-mark and four-mark questions.

The revised rules follow decisions taken at the board's Curriculum Committee meeting on August 20, 2025, and approved by the Executive Committee on August 28, 2025.
Under the revised MP Board exam pattern, students will no longer receive internal-choice options in two-mark, very-short-answer questions in major subjects.
This means students will need to answer these questions as set in the examination paper rather than selecting an alternative question through an internal-choice option.
The change applies to examinations for Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 from the 2026–27 academic session.
While the board has removed internal choice from two-mark questions in major subjects, it has retained the existing arrangement for longer responses.
The revised rules specify the following:
Two-mark questions: Internal choice discontinued in major subjects.
Three-mark questions: Internal choice will continue.
Four-mark questions: Internal choice will continue.
Students should review the latest subject-wise marking schemes and model question papers to understand how the revised rules will affect their preparation.
The board has also introduced internal-choice options for selected questions in subjects covered under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
Under the new arrangement, internal choice will be available in five-mark long-answer questions and seven-mark descriptive or essay-type questions in NSQF subjects.
This is a separate provision from the changes applicable to two-, three- and four-mark questions in major subjects.
Students taking vocational or NSQF subjects should therefore consult the relevant subject-specific blueprint and marking scheme rather than assume that the same question pattern applies to every subject.
The revised internal-choice rules will take effect from the 2026–27 academic session. They will apply to the relevant examinations conducted during that session, including the MP Board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 in 2027.
Students should check their school's instructions and the latest information issued by MPBSE before preparing according to the revised pattern.
Students, parents and teachers can visit the official MPBSE website to access the board's notification, subject-wise syllabus, marking schemes and other academic updates for 2026–27.
Checking the official subject-wise documents will help students understand the revised question format and plan their exam preparation accordingly.
