Tiger Shroff Escapes Unhurt in Mumbai Shooting, Eknath Shinde Vows Strict Action Against Attackers

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped without gunshot injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire at his car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18. Two people, including the actor's driver, were injured in the incident, prompting a police investigation and renewed concerns over the safety of film personalities in the city.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the attack and warned that those responsible would face strict action, irrespective of whether they belonged to an organised criminal gang.

The shooting occurred near Pushpa Narsee Park, where Shroff had reportedly gone to play football. According to police accounts, the attackers fired several rounds towards the actor's vehicle as he was leaving the ground.

Shroff's driver, identified as Firdaus, sustained an injury to his left arm, while an autorickshaw driver was also wounded. Both were taken for medical treatment. The actor did not sustain any gunshot injuries.

Eknath Shinde warns of action against attackers

Reacting to the Tiger Shroff shooting incident, Shinde said the Maharashtra government would not tolerate attempts to intimidate people or threaten the state's film industry.

Speaking to the media, the deputy chief minister confirmed that he had contacted Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and spoken to Tiger Shroff and his father, veteran actor Jackie Shroff, to assure them of the government's support.

Shinde warned that the attackers would be apprehended and given a response in their own language.

Referring to Mumbai's history of organised crime during the 1990s, he recalled how police had acted against criminal gangs operating in the city. He said the government would take a similarly firm approach towards anyone attempting to spread fear.

The deputy chief minister also emphasised that protecting ordinary citizens was as important as ensuring the safety of celebrities.

He said police teams had been deployed to identify and apprehend those involved in the firing.

Mumbai Police investigate possible gang connection

Mumbai Police launched an investigation immediately after the shooting, with multiple teams examining CCTV footage and attempting to trace the suspects.

According to reports, surveillance footage captured suspected attackers, while a motorcycle believed to have been used in the incident was recovered near Andheri railway station.

Police have also been examining claims linking the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Social media posts attributed to individuals associated with the gang claimed responsibility for the firing. However, the authenticity of those claims and the alleged gang's involvement had not been independently established.

Investigators are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify everyone involved.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis orders swift investigation

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke to Shroff following the incident and assured him that the government would pursue those responsible.

Fadnavis directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to investigate the firing and take appropriate action against the attackers.

The incident has also triggered political criticism, with opposition leaders questioning the state government's handling of law and order in Mumbai.

The shooting has renewed attention on threats against Bollywood personalities and the possible involvement of organised criminal networks. However, the precise motive behind the attack on Shroff remains under investigation.
