Four universities in Greater Manchester will offer GREAT Scholarships 2027 to Indian students applying for eligible postgraduate courses in the United Kingdom, expanding funding opportunities for those planning to study abroad.

Each award will provide a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees. The programme is jointly funded by the UK government's GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council and participating higher education institutions.

Which universities are offering GREAT Scholarships?

The four institutions offer programmes across different academic and professional fields. Eligible subjects will depend on the university and the courses included under its scholarship scheme.

The Royal Northern College of Music has listed GREAT Scholarships 2027 for Indian applicants with a high level of performance or composition ability. Eligible programmes include the Master of Music (Intensive), Master of Performance (Intensive) and Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies.

The University of Salford has announced one GREAT Scholarship for an Indian student applying for either its MSc Managing AI in Business or MSc Diabetes Care programme for the September 2027 intake. The award will reduce tuition fees by £10,000.

Applicants interested in Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester should check the respective institutions' scholarship pages for course-specific details as these are published.

Who can apply for the scholarships?

Indian students will need to meet the admission and scholarship eligibility requirements of their chosen university and course. Applicants must secure an offer of admission from a participating institution, with additional requirements and selection procedures varying by university.

At Salford, Indian applicants must receive an offer for one of the two eligible master's programmes by April 1, 2027. The university's scholarship application window runs from April 1 to April 14, 2027, with applications closing at 5 pm GMT.

Prospective applicants should check the relevant university's website for the eligible courses, application process, deadlines and selection criteria rather than assume that all four institutions follow the same procedure.

What do the GREAT Scholarships cover?

The scholarships provide financial assistance towards tuition fees and should not be treated as fully funded awards covering every cost associated with studying in the UK.

Students may need to arrange funds for any remaining tuition fees, accommodation, travel, visa-related expenses and everyday living costs. The actual financial benefit will depend on the tuition fee of the selected programme and the scholarship conditions set by the university.

The GREAT Scholarships programme supports international students from participating countries pursuing one-year taught postgraduate courses at UK universities. Its awards are jointly funded by the UK government's GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council and participating institutions.

Indian students planning to apply for the 2027–28 academic year should confirm the latest eligibility criteria and application timelines directly with their chosen university before submitting an application.
