From Aryabhata to AI: Republic Day tableau celebrates India’s education journey under NEP 2020

The Republic Day tableau by the Department of School Education and Literacy celebrated India’s enduring knowledge legacy and its modernization under the National Education Policy 2020.

It portrayed school education as a stepping stone toward ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and traced the evolution from ancient learning to future-ready education, centered around a PM SHRI School.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared a video on Twitter, stating, “A captivating display of India’s educational advancements and transformations. The @EduMinOfIndia tableau themed ‘NEP 2020: Rocketing Indian School Education—The Path to Viksit Bharat’ truly showcased our commitment to nurturing an educated and empowered nation, while transforming the education ecosystem—the foundation of Viksit Bharat.”

At the forefront, an Aryabhata idol watched over children holding a globe and the concept of ‘Shunya’ (zero), symbolizing India’s historic contributions to global knowledge and the passing of this intellectual heritage to younger generations.

Behind them, wings represented NEP 2020, signifying confidence, opportunity, and global preparedness driven by “Aatmanirbharta.”

Students wearing VR headsets illustrated the theme “ancient roots, digital wings,” while the ‘Jaadui Pitara’ segment highlighted playful, mother-tongue-based foundational learning using traditional toys and multilingual educational materials.

The PM SHRI School entrance featured children planting saplings, reflecting inclusion, environmental awareness, and the Mission LiFE vision.

Another portion emphasized early skill development with students engaged in hands-on learning activities.

The tableau incorporated martial arts, performing arts, and sports, showcasing a holistic approach to student growth.

A robotic hand signified the integration of technology with tradition, connecting lessons from the ‘takhti’ to the tablet, guided by ethical values.

The display concluded with the Viksit Bharat 2047 tower, presenting smart classrooms, tinkering labs, and innovation centers.

Symbols such as books, gears, and circuits underscored PM SHRI Schools as embodiments of NEP 2020, preparing children across regions, genders, and abilities to become skilled, value-driven citizens.

The policy was portrayed as the engine driving India’s school education toward a developed nation.
