Shiv Sena has insisted that Eknath Shinde remain as Chief Minister, saying Mahayuti's success was because of Shinde-led government's initiatives, particularly the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana', which played a crucial role in the alliance's victory.

The governor asked Shinde to act as a caretaker chief minister till the new CM is sworn in, as suspense continues over who would be the ruling Mahayuti coalition's choice for the post following its landslide victory.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti alliance secured a thumping victory in the recently concluded state Assembly elections, winning 230 out of 288 seats. Nonetheless, the suspense over who will become the next chief minister continues even as state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis arrived in Delhi to discuss the next steps with BJP's top leadership.

Earlier, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar disallowed 13 notices served under rule 267, including seven that sought a discussion on the US indictment on the alleged payment of USD 265 million in bribes. But the Congress and Left parties insisted on a discussion, forcing a 15-minute adjournment of proceedings.

The prime minister urged youths to attend the "Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue," which would take place in Delhi from Jan 11–12. Nearly 2,000 young people from various villages, blocks, districts, and states will attend the event.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari called for a debate on Gautam Adani’s alleged $265 million bribery scheme and the ongoing violence in Manipur at an all-party meeting convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
