The Election Commission on Monday, released the notification for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for May 25. The process of filing nominations began with the issuance of this notification by the election body.
In this sixth phase, voting will take place in 57 parliamentary constituencies spread across seven states and Union territories, including Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Delhi. As per the Election Commission’s notification, the 57 Lok Sabha seats include 14 from Uttar Pradesh, 10 from Haryana, eight each from Bihar and West Bengal, seven from Delhi, six from Odisha, and four from Jharkhand.
The deadline for filing nominations is May 6, and the scrutiny of nominations will occur on May 7, according to the notification. The final date for withdrawal of candidature is May 9.
The Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases. The first and second phases of the elections took place on April 19 and April 26, respectively. The voter turnout was recorded at over 62 per cent in the first phase, while it was around 61 per cent in the second phase.
The election results will be announced on June 4.
