Tamil YouTuber and food vlogger Irfan has landed in trouble with the state’s department of health and family welfare, after he posted a video on his YouTube channel revealing the gender of his unborn baby.

Irfan and his wife, Aaliya, had recently gone to Dubai to take a sex determination test. He had announced that Aaliya was pregnant two weeks ago.
The Tamil Nadu health department has taken notice of the video and has issued a notice against the YouTuber seeking clarification from Irfan. Reportedly, the department has also recommended police to initiate action against him.
The video that sparked controversy, showed the vlogging couple hosting a ‘gender reveal’ party in which the gender of the fetus was revealed. In the video, Irfan also says sex determination tests are illegal in India, however, it is not so in many foreign countries. According to video's timeline, the couple visited the hospital in Dubai on May 2.

India prohibits the pre-natal sex determination test as per the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994, also known as the Prohibition of Sex Selection Act.
The Tamil-based YouTuber has over 4 million subscribers on his channel ‘Irfan’s View', and mostly creates food review vlogs. In May last year, Irfan's SUV ran over a 52-year-old woman while she was crossing the GST Road. The woman died on the spot and a case had been filed against Irfan’s driver who was behind the wheel of the overspeeding vehicle.
