MP school students to receive Aadhaar-style APAAR ID, 78.5% IDs generated so far

Madhya Pradesh will issue 12-digit APAAR IDs to all school students, with the state having already generated nearly 1 crore IDs covering 78.5% of students, according to the School Education Department.

The APAAR ID, or Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, will provide each student with a unique digital identity for storing and accessing academic records. The department said student-related information will be integrated into the ID.

Confirming the rollout through its official X handle, the Madhya Pradesh School Education Department stated, "Madhya Pradesh school students to have unique ID like 'Aadhaar.'"

"All student information to be integrated in 12-digit APAAR ID," it added.

Under the system, every student in the state will receive an individual APAAR ID, with educational details maintained digitally. The initiative is intended to keep students’ academic information secure and make their records easier to access when required.

APAAR is part of the government’s ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative and was introduced in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.

The system enables students to maintain a consolidated record of their academic achievements, which can support smoother transitions between educational institutions when they pursue further studies.

According to the official APAAR website, the system also facilitates credit recognition and transfer from the school level, helping streamline academic progression and recognition of prior learning.

The initiative is designed to provide students with a single digital academic identity that can remain linked to their educational records as they move through different stages of education.
