The National Medical Commission has canceled admissions of 14 students and ordered suspension of 26 others for malpractice in NEET-UG 2024, as investigations into the scam continue.
Cracking down on malpractice in medical admissions, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has annulled the enrollment of 14 MBBS students and ordered the suspension of 26 others linked to irregularities in NEET-UG 2024.
The disciplinary action is based on findings from an ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged paper leaks and cheating during the highly competitive medical entrance exam.
In response to the investigation, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier debarred 42 candidates from appearing in NEET-UG for the next three years—2024, 2025, and 2026 — while nine more have been barred for the 2025 and 2026 sessions.
Additionally, the examination records of 215 students are under scrutiny, and their results remain on hold pending further inquiry.
“The Commission has directed the concerned medical colleges to suspend the 26 students found involved in unfair practices,” said an official familiar with the matter.
Stressing its “zero-tolerance” policy, the NMC reiterated its commitment to preserving integrity in medical education.
The enforcement comes just ahead of the NEET-UG 2025 exam, which is slated for May 4.
