The two-year distance learning program aims to equip learners from diverse backgrounds with data analysis skills, offering flexible study options and an exit pathway with a postgraduate diploma.

Indira Gandhi National Open University has expanded its postgraduate offerings with the launch of a new MSc program in Data Science and Analytics through the Open Distance Learning mode.
The two-year degree program is being offered by the School of Computer and Information Sciences and is designed to meet growing demand for professionals with data-driven skills across multiple sectors.

IGNOU said the program focuses on building strong computational and statistical capabilities required for data analysis and problem-solving.
According to the university, the MSc program is open to students from diverse academic backgrounds, including working professionals and learners looking to transition into data science-related roles.
The curriculum emphasizes practical application of data science tools in areas such as business, healthcare, social sciences, and engineering.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree of at least three years from a recognized university.
The course fee is set at ₹13,000 per semester, excluding applicable registration and development charges, as per details available on the official IGNOU website.
The program will be taught in English and follows a flexible ODL format, allowing students to pursue their studies remotely. IGNOU has also introduced an exit option under the program structure.
Learners who complete the first two semesters, accounting for 40 credits, will be eligible to receive a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics if they choose not to continue with the full degree.
Applications for the program can be submitted online through the official IGNOU portal by completing registration, filling in academic details, uploading required documents, and paying the prescribed application fee.
