Journey from Class 7 Coaching to IIT Bombay: A Tale of Self-Discovery and Academic Triumph in Civil Engineering said Snehith Reddy
IIT Bombay
Embarking on my journey towards an illustrious career in engineering began in Class 7 when I joined a coaching institute in Hyderabad to prepare for the challenging Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main and Advanced. Driven by a passion for mathematics and a vision to contribute to innovative change in the country through engineering, I dedicated myself to mastering the physics-chemistry-maths (PCM) stream.
After successfully navigating through Class 12 exams in 2023, I eagerly tackled the JEE Main and Advanced, emerging triumphant in securing admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), where I chose to pursue BTech in civil engineering.
Hailing from Telangana's Nirmal district, renowned for its toy-making industry, my upbringing was humble yet filled with aspirations for academic excellence. Despite the financial constraints and limited educational opportunities in my hometown, my parents made the pivotal decision to enroll me in a residential coaching institute in Hyderabad. Thus, my journey of self-discovery and academic pursuit began at a young age, marked by resilience, independence, and the quest for knowledge.
Transitioning to life at IIT Bombay in 2023 proved to be a remarkable experience. While adapting to a new environment away from home presented its challenges, I embraced the vibrant culture, diverse cuisine, and enriching academic atmosphere of western India. Life at IIT Bombay has been nothing short of transformative, fostering my personal growth, self-confidence, and discipline.
My daily routine at IIT Bombay is filled with enriching activities, from attending lectures and engaging in extracurricular pursuits to exploring Mumbai's iconic landmarks with friends. The institute's interdisciplinary approach and state-of-the-art facilities have provided me with a conducive environment for holistic development and exploration of diverse interests, including entrepreneurship, design, and AI/ML.
As I look ahead, my aspirations in civil engineering are matched by a desire to serve the nation through the Indian Engineering Services (IES). My journey, characterized by perseverance, sacrifice, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, serves as a testament to the transformative power of education and the unwavering spirit of determination. With my sights set on a bright future, I remain committed to charting a path of growth, innovation, and service to society.
