New MEMU Services to Strengthen Rail Connectivity From Meerut City

Indian Railways has approved two new MEMU services connecting Meerut City with Khurja and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, providing additional travel options and strengthening regional rail connectivity around Meerut.

According to an official statement, Train No. 64573/64574 Khurja–Meerut City MEMU and Train No. 64580/64579 Saharanpur–Meerut City MEMU will have commercial stoppages at all stations along their respective routes.

The Khurja–Meerut City MEMU will depart from Khurja at 1:15 p.m. and reach Meerut City at 5:20 p.m., covering the journey in four hours and five minutes.

In the return direction, the Meerut City–Khurja MEMU will leave Meerut City at 11:25 a.m. and arrive at Khurja at 4 p.m.

The Saharanpur–Meerut City MEMU will depart from Saharanpur at 5:50 a.m. and reach Meerut City at 8:10 a.m., completing the journey in two hours and 20 minutes.

The return service will leave Meerut City at 5:45 p.m. and reach Saharanpur at 8:40 p.m.

The new services are expected to improve passenger mobility across the routes by providing additional rail options and connectivity to stations along the sections.

Earlier this month, Indian Railways also approved a new daily train service between Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar, providing an overnight rail connectivity option between Kanpur and Delhi.

The service will connect passengers travelling between Kanpur, Etawah, Aligarh, Ghaziabad and the Delhi region. It will cover 428 km in both directions, with a journey time of eight hours and 10 minutes from Kanpur Central to Anand Vihar and eight hours on the return journey.

In another infrastructure decision, Indian Railways approved construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge at Alkapuri in Vadodara Division of Western Railway.

The ROB will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 166.5 crore on a cost-sharing basis with the Gujarat government.

The latest approvals form part of ongoing efforts by Indian Railways to expand passenger services and strengthen rail and road infrastructure across key regional corridors.
