National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said India is moving through a transformative phase with significant opportunities for economic growth, innovation and development. Addressing the convocation at IIT Roorkee, Doval said India’s GDP, currently around $4.015 trillion, could reach $38 trillion within the next 20 years. He also urged students to approach their careers with courage, conviction and clear goals.
India currently accounts for nearly 20 per cent of the global semiconductor design workforce, IT Secretary S. Krishnan said at SEMICON India 2026. The government is placing strong emphasis on semiconductor skills and plans to train around 85,000 design engineers under its ongoing programme. Krishnan said India’s skilled talent pool, stable policy environment and government support are attracting major domestic and global companies to invest in the semiconductor sector. The event has also witnessed participation from countries including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, highlighting growing international interest in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
