The company has replaced a wide range of internal courses with AI-focused content on its Grow platform, aligning employee learning with core business objectives and operational priorities.

Google has restructured its employee training programs to concentrate almost entirely on artificial intelligence (AI), aligning its internal learning systems with its broader business strategy.
The company has redesigned its internal education platform, Grow, to prioritize AI-related content and encourage employees to integrate advanced tools into their daily workflows.

“We have an active learning culture with numerous in-house courses tied to company priorities, along with generous educational reimbursement,” a Google spokesperson said. “We’re refreshing Grow to help employees find the most relevant learning opportunities.”
Previously, Grow offered a diverse array of courses covering everything from personal finance and 3D printing to Rubik’s Cube solving.
However, employees enrolled in non-AI courses were notified earlier this year that their sessions would be canceled and archived.
According to an internal memo, Google now considers many of the platform’s 500,000 courses “not relevant to the work we do today.”
Only sessions directly aligned with current business priorities will continue.
The shift reflects a larger reorientation of Google’s internal focus as it pursues an AI-first strategy.
The change also comes amid cost-cutting efforts across the company. Over the past year, Google has laid off thousands of workers and reduced several benefits, including those tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
Alphabet Chief Financial Officer Anat Ashkenazi previously noted the company could “push a little further” on expense reductions and described “an aggressive roadmap ahead for 2025” during her first earnings call.
With AI now central to the development of products such as Search, Workspace, and Cloud, Google’s internal systems and priorities are being reshaped to reflect this technological focus.
