The recruitment drive will fill 660 E-1 grade posts through a computer-based test, with online applications scheduled to begin from May 12 this year.

Coal India Limited has released a recruitment notification for 660 Management Trainee posts in E-1 grade across multiple disciplines through a computer-based test.
The Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal will begin the online application process on May 12, 2026, at 10 AM. Candidates can submit applications till June 11, 2026, up to 6 PM through the official website, coalindia.in.

The recruitment includes openings in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems, electronics and telecommunication, geology, industrial engineering, Rajbhasha (Hindi), and company secretary streams.
Among all disciplines, the highest number of vacancies has been announced for electrical engineering with 221 posts. Civil engineering has 178 vacancies, while mechanical engineering accounts for 145 positions.
Selection Process
Selection of candidates will be based entirely on performance in the computer-based test. The examination will consist of two papers carrying 100 marks each:
Each paper will include 100 multiple-choice questions. The company has clarified that there will be no negative marking in the examination.
Application Fee and Age Limit
The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS category candidates is ₹1,180, including GST. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates, along with employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries, are exempted from paying the fee.
The upper age limit for General and EWS category applicants is 30 years as of April 30, 2026. Reserved category candidates will receive relaxation according to Government of India rules.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for engineering disciplines must hold a full-time degree in the relevant branch with at least 60% marks. SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks.
Final-year students whose results are expected by Aug 31, 2026, can also apply for the recruitment process.

Salary and Training
Selected candidates will be appointed in the E-1 pay scale of ₹60,000 to ₹180,000, with an initial basic pay of ₹60,000 per month during training.
After successfully completing one year of training and probation, candidates will be confirmed as officers in their respective disciplines.
