Jailer 2 Box Office Collection: India and Overseas Performance

The film's domestic performance has played a major role in its record-breaking run. By Day 19, Jailer 2 had reportedly earned approximately ₹459.70 crore in India in net collections, while its India gross stood at around ₹537.75 crore. Overseas markets have also contributed significantly. The film's international gross collection reached approximately ₹274.25 crore by Day 19, taking its worldwide total to around ₹812 crore, according to trade estimates. These figures are estimates from box-office tracking sources and may vary across trade reports.

Jailer 2 Beats Rajinikanth’s 2.0 to Set a New Record

Before Jailer 2, Rajinikanth's 2018 science-fiction film 2.0 held the worldwide box-office record among Tamil films. With its latest achievement, the sequel has moved past that benchmark to become the highest-grossing Tamil film worldwide.

The film had earlier crossed the ₹700-crore mark during its second weekend before entering the ₹800-crore club. Its performance has also put it ahead of several major Indian releases in worldwide lifetime collections, including Aamir Khan's PK and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, according to reported trade estimates.

Rajinikanth Returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian

In Jailer 2, Rajinikanth reprises his role as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who finds himself caught in another confrontation involving the criminal underworld.

The film is produced by Sun Pictures and features an ensemble cast that includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Malayalam and Kannada cinema stars Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar also feature in the film, alongside other performers. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, continuing his association with Rajinikanth and Nelson after the first Jailer.

Can Jailer 2 Reach the ₹1,000-Crore Mark?

With the ₹800-crore milestone achieved, attention has shifted to whether Jailer 2 can reach ₹1,000 crore worldwide. Veteran Tamil film distributor and financier Tiruppur Subramaniam has suggested that the film could have earned considerably more under different ticket-pricing conditions and with wider access to early-morning screenings. He also expressed the view that the film had the potential to reach the ₹1,000-crore mark. These are industry estimates, not confirmed box-office projections.

The film's next challenge will be sustaining audience interest as new theatrical releases enter the market. Regardless of its final collection, Jailer 2 has already achieved a landmark that no Tamil film had reached before: crossing ₹800 crore in worldwide theatrical gross.
