Amitabh Bachchan to play 'Ashwatthama' in Kalki 2898 AD.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to play the role of the immortal son of Drona, Ashwatthama, in the Nag Ashwin-directorial 'Kalki 2898 AD'.
The makers dropped the teaser of Amitabh Bachchan's look from the sci-fi dystopian film on Sunday. The film also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Kamal Haasan. The makers previously shared the first look of Prabhas on Maha Shivratri. His character's name is Bhairava.
Earlier, the team of Kalki 2898 AD shared a poster of Big B's character from the film and wrote, “The time has come to know who he is (sic).”
The teaser shows Big B in mud-stained clothes with a bandage-like mask covering his face and is praying to Shiva linga at a temple in a cave,
“The time has come…My final battle begins now,” says Ashwatthama in the teaser as he furiously brandishes a stick.
At a press conference, Nag Ashwin shared the reason why he named the film 'Kalki 2898 AD' and said, “Our film starts in Mahabharat and ends in 2898. That's the title of the film. It's called 'Kalki 2898 AD'. It spans 6000 years, a sort of distance in time.”
The post-production work of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is currently underway. The sci-fi flick’s tentative release date in theatres is May 9.
While sharing his first look from 'Kalki 2898 AD' Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his X account: “It's been an experience for me like no other... the mind to think of such a product, the execution, the exposure to modern technology, and above all, the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super Star presence.”
