The commission has issued a caution to students, warning that enrolling in unrecognized degree programs in Delhi could violate regulations and put academic and career prospects at risk.

The University Grants Commission has issued a warning about an institute in Delhi offering unrecognized degrees, cautioning students against enrolling in programs that violate UGC regulations.
According to the UGC notification, the Institute of Management and Engineering, located at 1810/4, 1st Floor, Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi, is providing various degree courses that do not comply with the rules and policies of the UGC Act, 1956.

The UGC highlighted Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, which specifies that the authority to confer degrees rests only with universities established under Central, Provincial, or State Acts, deemed universities, or institutions specifically empowered by an Act of Parliament.
"Whereas, the Institute of Management and Engineering, 1810/4, 1st Floor, Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi, is neither recognized under Section 2(f) or Section 3 of the UGC Act nor empowered to award any degree as per Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956," the notification added.
Students are advised to verify the list of recognized universities and approved institutions by visiting the official UGC website at www.ugc.gov.in and checking the HEIs section to avoid enrolling in unapproved programs that could jeopardize their careers.
