Draft Bill proposes scientific categorization of private schools based on infrastructure, location, and facilities, along with comprehensive fee regulation measures.
The Telangana Education Commission met with the Education Secretary and presented a draft Bill to the Telangana Private Unaided School Fee Regulatory and Monitoring Commission on Jan 25, which is set to be implemented in 2025.
The Bill attempts to control private, unaided school fees, which have been a major source of concern for middle-class families.
Telangana Education Commission Chairperson Akunuri Murali met with IAS Secretary of Education Yogita Rana and presented her with a copy of the draft bill along with Commission Members P L Vishweshwara Rao, Charakonda Venkatesh, and Jyotsna Shiva Reddy.
“The TEC drafted this Bill after discussions and meetings with various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, private aided and unaided school managements, and civil societies,” said Murali.
According to location, land, infrastructure, teachers, extracurricular activities, library resources, and laboratory facilities, the Bill suggests classifying private unaided schools in a scientific way.
Several elements of fee regulation are also included in this draft bill.
