SDM University awards degrees to over 580 graduates, scholars at convocation ceremony

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) University awarded degrees to 584 students and research scholars during its fourth convocation held on June 6 at D Veerendra Heggade Kalakshethra.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Arun C Inamadar, Vice Chancellor of BLDE Deemed University, Vijayapur, as the chief guest. Chancellor Poojya Shri D Veerendra Heggade addressed the gathering virtually with his blessings. D Surendra Kumar, Member of the Board of Governors and Vice President of SDME Society, presided over the event.

A total of 397 undergraduate students, 180 postgraduate students, and seven PhD scholars received their degrees. Ten students were also honored with university gold medals for academic excellence.

In his convocation address, Inamadar emphasized the importance of education, technological adaptation, and purposeful effort in professional life. "SDM Institutions are the Temple of Education and provides Jnanajyothi to its students," he said.

He urged graduates to learn from their mentors and remain open to emerging technologies in healthcare. "Students must absorb the teachers academic knowledge," he said. "Students necessary to adopt AI & Machine Learning in Health Science Professions."

Speaking on success and achievement, he said, "When we do our work sincerely milestones are achieved automatically." "Purposeful action completes the Dreams into Reality."

"Students must have goals for the success instead of comparing with others,” he added.

Presiding over the convocation, Kumar highlighted the university's growth and contribution to higher education. "SDM University & Institutions have made rapid progress and development within a short time," he said.

He praised the efforts of the faculty and administration, stating, "He congratulated the administration and all faculty for their contribution for Excellent Education."

Referring to the role of students and alumni in building the institution's reputation, he said, "Word of Mouth of our student ambassadors are the best advertisement."

Addressing the graduating medical professionals, he added, "Doctors should acquire own ability and available all the time to serve the patients."

The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Dr Niranjan Kumar, Executive Director Padmalatha Niranjan, Pro Vice Chancellor Jeevandhar Kumar, Deputy Medical Director Saketh Shetty, Registrar Dr Chidendra M Shettar, Finance Officer VG Prabhu, principals of constituent colleges, and other dignitaries.

Dr Balaram D Naik, Principal of SDM Dental College, welcomed the gathering. Registrar Dr Shettar presented the annual report, while Dr Anil Tumkur, Principal of SDM Pharmacy College, administered the oath to graduates.

Controller of Examinations Dr Sathyabodh Guttal presented details of the graduating students and introduced the gold medal recipients. Dr Vijay Kulkarni, Principal of SDM Medical College, introduced the chief guest. The program was compered by Dr Parinitha and Dr Malashree.
