The Odisha government has announced financial assistance of Rs 30,000 each for 15,000 meritorious Class 12 students to help them purchase laptops.

The Odisha Higher Education Department is implementing the Godabarisha Bidyarthi Protsahana Yojana, also known as the Laptop DBT Scheme, to support meritorious students completing their higher secondary education.
Under the initiative, 15,000 selected students will receive a one-time financial grant of Rs 30,000 each. The amount will be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The financial assistance is intended to help students purchase laptops and access digital learning resources for higher education.
Students who have passed the Annual Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, and the Upashastri examination conducted by Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, Puri, can be considered under the scheme, subject to the prescribed eligibility criteria.
The department prepares beneficiary lists based on examination marks, streams, categories and block or urban local body allocations.
According to the department's published scheme guidelines, students securing 60% or more marks are preferably considered for selection. However, selection is subject to the applicable allocation and merit criteria.
The scheme covers students from Arts, Science, Commerce, Vocational and Sanskrit streams.
The online application process is scheduled to run from November 2 to November 19, 2026, according to reports citing the Higher Education Department's notification.
Students who qualified in 2025 but missed the previous application opportunity have also been given another chance to apply, subject to eligibility.
The department has made the beneficiary list and application-related information available through its official platforms.
Eligible students can follow these steps to submit their applications:
