The directive aims to strengthen examination security, improve monitoring and promote transparency during the Odisha Plus Two board examinations in 2027.

CCTV Coverage Required in Examination Halls and Strong Rooms

According to reports on the council’s latest instructions, CCTV cameras must cover examination halls and rooms, Examination Management Hub (EMH) strong rooms, the examination centre superintendent’s office and designated laboratories, as applicable. The surveillance arrangements are intended to help officials monitor examination-related activities and the secure handling of question papers.

Institutions have also been instructed to check existing cameras and install additional equipment wherever necessary. The systems must be operational before the examination process begins and ready for use from the day question papers arrive at the designated strong rooms.

Schools Must Update CCTV Details on SAMS e-Space

CHSE Odisha has asked the institutions concerned to submit their CCTV installation status and technical information through the designated link on the SAMS e-Space portal by November 30, 2026.

The information to be furnished includes the institution’s name and code, internet service provider and connection speed, DVR/NVR make and serial number, and other prescribed system details.

The council has also specified key infrastructure requirements for eligible examination centres and EMHs, including CCTV cameras, a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or Network Video Recorder (NVR), compatible cloud services, a static IP address and an internet connection with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps.

New Examination Centres Must Also Install CCTV Cameras

Higher secondary institutions that have applied for approval as new examination centres must also meet the surveillance requirements. CCTV cameras are required in their examination halls and centre superintendent’s rooms.

The instructions also cover institutions that served as EMHs or examination centres during the 2026 annual examinations, along with other eligible institutions seeking examination-centre status for 2027.

CHSE Warns of Possible Cancellation of Exam Centres

Institutions that fail to install the required surveillance systems or comply with the council’s instructions may face cancellation of their examination-centre status for both theory and practical examinations. CHSE may also refer cases of non-compliance to the state government for appropriate action.

With the November 30 deadline approaching, eligible schools and colleges should complete the installation, testing and reporting processes in time to avoid possible administrative action.
