IISc Bangalore retains top spot in IIRF 2025 deemed university rankings

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, and Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, secure second and third positions in IIRF 2025 deemed university rankings, maintaining their previous year's ranks.

IISc Bangalore retains top spot in IIRF 2025 deemed university rankings

IIRF University Ranking 2025: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has retained Rank 1 in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025 under the deemed university overall category.

Consistently ranked among the top 10 deemed universities in India, IISc continues to lead in research, science, and technology education.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa-New Delhi, has secured Rank 2, while Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, holds Rank 3 in the same IIRF 2025 deemed university overall category.

The rankings mirror the 2024 list, reflecting academic stability and performance among these top deemed universities in India.

Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru

Established in 1909, IISc Bangalore is affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

It holds a NAAC A++ accreditation by UGC and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs across science, engineering, and management disciplines.

The university consists of 45 academic departments under six divisions and offers over 738 programs, including BSc (Research), BTech, MTech, MSc, MDes, and PhD.

IISc accepts national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, CAT, and XAT for various courses. For postgraduate and PG diploma admissions, the institute considers IIT JAM scores followed by counseling.

In placements 2024, IISc Bangalore recorded a highest package of ₹86 LPA and an average package of ₹28 LPA. Internship stipends for the 2023–24 batch reached up to ₹2 lakh per month, with an average of ₹75,000 per month.

Recruiters included Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Autodesk, SAP, Deloitte, and others. The university has also introduced MSc programs in Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences and an MTech in Bioengineering.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), ranked 2nd in the IIRF 2025 deemed university overall category, is India’s premier national institute for agricultural research, education, and extension.

Established in 1905, it played a transformative role in the country’s Green Revolution.

Functioning under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the institute continues to lead advancements in crop science, soil science, genetics, plant breeding, biotechnology, and agricultural engineering.

Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai

Established in 1957 in Maharashtra, the Homi Bhabha National Institute is a premier deemed university offering a wide range of postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma programs in engineering and sciences.

Approved by AICTE, it offers 14 PG courses and several specialized programs, including MTech, MSc, MPhil, DRM, DMRIT, PGDFIT, MCh, and integrated PhD across disciplines such as engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, and medical sciences.

The institute is known for its expertise in fields like chemical engineering, instrumentation, fire & safety, and metallurgical engineering. It also offers online courses, especially in physical sciences, providing flexibility and access to quality education.
