NTA corrects Abu Dhabi exam center allotment for Nagpur NEET UG candidate

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reassigned a Nagpur examination center to a NEET UG 2026 candidate whose re-examination admit card mistakenly listed Abu Dhabi as his test venue, while an inquiry into the incident remains underway.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirmed that the issue had been rectified and the candidate would be able to appear for the re-examination without any difficulty.

Singh said the agency is investigating how a student based in Nagpur was allotted an examination center in Abu Dhabi.

He noted that city intimation slips were released on June 7 and admit cards on June 14, adding that officials have already contacted the candidate and begun examining the circumstances behind the error.

According to Singh, investigators are also exploring whether unauthorized access to the candidate's account may have played a role.

"Some candidates do not adequately secure their account passwords, which can sometimes lead to such issues," he said.

He emphasized that ensuring the student could sit for the examination was the agency's immediate concern.

"The immediate priority was to ensure that the student was able to appear for the examination. The enquiry into the matter will continue alongside," he said.

The issue surfaced after Abdullah, a NEET UG candidate from Nagpur, discovered that his admit card for the upcoming re-examination listed Abu Dhabi as his assigned test center.

The allotment sparked concern because the student had appeared at a center in Nagpur during the earlier examination.

The situation caused distress for the student and his family, particularly as the discrepancy came to light just a day before the scheduled test.

The problem drew wider attention after it was highlighted on social media, where students questioned how such an error could occur in a national-level entrance examination.

The case also raised practical concerns, as the candidate reportedly did not possess a passport, making international travel impossible.

With the allotment now corrected and a center assigned in Nagpur, focus has shifted to the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The NTA said its investigation will continue to determine the cause of the unusual center allocation.

The agency has also urged candidates to safeguard their login credentials and immediately report any discrepancies found in their city intimation slips or admit cards.
