A nationwide mock drill involving thousands of personnel was conducted ahead of the test, which will be held across 551 Indian cities and 14 abroad.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, with more than 22.79 lakh candidates set to appear at centers across India and overseas under enhanced security arrangements.
The medical entrance examination will be held in pen-and-paper mode from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) who qualify for compensatory time will be allowed to continue writing the test until 6:20 pm.

Ahead of the examination, authorities launched a nationwide mock drill on Saturday to assess preparedness and strengthen security measures at test centers. The exercise began at 9 am and is scheduled to continue through the evening.
According to officials, over 2.5 lakh security personnel are participating in the drill, which is being conducted across the country as part of efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
The test will be held in 551 cities across India and 14 international locations. NTA said all examination centers have already been handed over to the agency and will operate under a three-tier security framework on exam day.
Officials said the examination will be conducted under a multi-layered security system that includes CCTV surveillance, Aadhaar-based biometric verification, GPS-enabled transportation of examination materials, and the deployment of more than 2 lakh personnel.
Paramilitary forces have been assigned responsibility for the security and custody of question papers and answer booklets. More than 5,000 examination centers will remain under CCTV surveillance and security monitoring throughout the process.
The CCTV feeds will be accessible to the NTA for real-time oversight. Authorities have also established a high-level monitoring center to track social media platforms and identify any suspicious activity linked to the examination.
NTA said all arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the secure and orderly conduct of one of the country's largest entrance examinations.
