More than 20 lakh candidates appeared at 5,440 centers nationwide and 14 overseas locations, with authorities implementing extensive security measures and real-time monitoring throughout the examination process.

NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted smoothly across the country on June 21, with the National Testing Agency (NTA) stating that no complaints related to a question paper leak had been received and expressing full confidence in the integrity of the process.
More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the medical entrance test at 5,440 centers in India and 14 centers overseas.

The examination was conducted in 13 languages under enhanced security measures involving support from central ministries, state governments, and nearly seven lakh personnel.
Speaking about the conduct of the examination, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the agency had received encouraging feedback from across the country.
“So far, from what we have heard, everything went well. We have received good reports. A lot of state governments and government departments extended full support, and we were able to conduct the exam with full security as well as convenience for the students,” he said.
Responding to questions about any reports of a paper leak, Singh said the agency had not received any such complaints.
“Not so far. But NTA is working aggressively to ensure the integrity of the process. We are 100 percent confident about the whole process this time.”
The agency also rejected claims made in a video circulating on social media that alleged the NEET UG 2026 paper had been leaked. NTA described the video as "fake" and the allegations as "false."
It said it was coordinating with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for creating and sharing the content.
“Our 20 lakh-plus aspirants deserve a calm and fair process,” the agency said.
The re-examination was organized 37 days after the original test held on May 3 was canceled following allegations of a paper leak. Singh attributed the successful conduct of the exam to coordinated efforts by multiple government agencies and departments.
“This was not the NTA acting alone. It was Team Bharat — a chain of people across the country who showed up so that, for each candidate, the only thing that mattered that morning was the paper in front of them,” the agency said in a statement.
According to the NTA, support was provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Central Armed Police Forces, National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Department of Posts, and banking partners.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also reviewed preparedness at the NTA headquarters in New Delhi before the examination.
Security measures included Aadhaar-based biometric verification, facial authentication, CCTV surveillance, signal jammers, and two-stage frisking at examination centers.
Monitoring centers were established at the NTA, Ministry of Education, centrally funded institutions, state headquarters, and district administrations to oversee the process in real time.
Singh said a limited number of violations were detected during the examination.
“There were some minor reports regarding people coming with wrong admit cards, people coming with some forged admit cards at a few places; impersonation cases were also found out,” he said, adding that attempts to bring mobile phones into examination centers were also intercepted.
The NTA said special arrangements were made for more than 10,000 Persons with Disabilities and around 81 candidates with serious medical conditions.
These included candidates undergoing chemotherapy or recovering from major injuries who were provided assistance to ensure they could take the examination.
Several state governments also facilitated drinking water, shaded waiting areas, medical support, ambulance services, and, in some cases, free transportation for candidates.
On the declaration of results, Singh indicated that the evaluation process would begin shortly and that results would be announced sooner than usual.
“As soon as possible. Let us start the evaluation process, then we will give a date. See, we conducted the exam in 37 days. We compressed the entire exam cycle. So the results will also be announced faster than what one would expect,” he said.
The re-examination was conducted after the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 exam amid allegations of a paper leak that sparked public protests and widespread scrutiny of the testing process.
