Madhya Pradesh school incident triggers probe after viral video surfaces

A video from a government middle school in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district has sparked outrage, raising concerns over conduct within the public education system.

The clip, widely shared on social media, shows Varsha Manjhi, headmistress of a government middle school in Panasi village under the Teonthar Assembly constituency, seated with earphones on while a student stands beside her, fanning her with a hand fan in the summer heat.

Local residents criticized the incident, calling it a misuse of authority and inappropriate behavior in a school setting. "This isn't education; it's exploitation," said one villager.

District Education Officer Rewa Ramraj Mishra said the matter is under investigation. "We are investigating the matter thoroughly. Strict action will follow based on the probe's findings," he said.
