The Ministry of Education-backed 40-hour certification will train K–12 educators to use AI responsibly and adopt technology-driven teaching methods, with fee waivers for selected rural teachers nationwide.

The Education Ministry has expanded its push for technology-driven learning by teaming up with IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation to roll out a free artificial intelligence training program for rural school teachers nationwide.
Offered through the SWAYAM Plus platform, the certification course titled AI for Educators K12 Teachers for Classes I to XII will begin on Feb 5, 2026. The registration window remains open until Jan 31, 2026.

Structured as a 40-hour program, the course is aimed at enabling teachers to confidently use AI tools and methodologies to improve learning outcomes while ensuring responsible and inclusive adoption of technology in educational settings.
As per an institute statement, the program includes an introductory session followed by eight modules that cover generative AI tools, prompt engineering, gamification, storytelling, AI-driven lesson planning, and student engagement technologies such as AR, VR, and visualization.

After completing the training, teachers will be able to integrate AI into subject teaching, apply AI-based assessment and grading systems, design inclusive strategies for diverse learners, and develop AI-powered instructional resources.
The certification fee will be waived for the first 500 teachers from rural schools who complete the program.
