The fully online undergraduate program is open to Class 12 graduates, features flexible pacing and mixed assessment modes, and aims to prepare students for careers and higher studies in aerospace fields.

IIT Madras has launched a new Bachelor of Science program in Aeronautics and Space Technology that will be delivered fully online and will not require candidates to clear the Joint Entrance Examination.
The program was introduced on Feb 9 during a live event attended by industry representatives from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the civil aviation sector.

The institute said the initiative aims to widen access to aerospace education while maintaining academic rigor.
Students who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply. The course follows a flexible structure, allowing learners to progress at defined milestones.
Assessments will be held on Sundays and will include a combination of center-based examinations and online proctored tests.
IIT Madras said the program is designed to prepare graduates for roles in public sector undertakings, private aerospace companies, start-ups, and engineering analysis firms.
The curriculum will also support preparation for GATE and higher studies at IITs and the Indian Institute of Science.
Teaching will be delivered through recorded lectures, live tutorials, and online discussion forums.
Students enrolled at the diploma level will undertake projects using tools such as computational fluid dynamics and finite element methods, along with internship opportunities. At the BS level, learners will complete a capstone project focused on aircraft or spacecraft design.
The institute added that high-performing students may be considered for on-campus programs or advanced degrees at IIT Madras, subject to academic performance.
