The tool, “Learn Your Way” AI, converts standard textbooks into interactive lessons, offering text, audio, slides, quizzes, and mind maps personalized to students’ grade levels and individual interests for effective learning.

Google has launched an experimental AI tool called Learn Your Way, designed to transform standard academic textbooks into interactive, personalized lessons for students.
The company said the model aims to help students learn more effectively by adapting content to their individual needs, rather than relying on traditional text-based reading.

Powered by generative AI, Learn Your Way customizes learning materials based on a student’s grade level and personal interests, including areas like sports, food, or technology.
Unlike conventional textbooks, the platform presents information in multiple formats. Students and teachers can access detailed text, spoken explanations, slide-based lessons, audio content, and mind maps.
Each lesson also includes quizzes to allow learners to test their understanding as they progress.
To use the tool, students upload a PDF document, select their grade level and interests, and choose the personalize option.
Google said the AI model is grounded in established learning science, including dual coding theory.
In a randomized controlled study, 60 students aged 15 to 18 studied adolescent brain development for 40 minutes.
Some used traditional textbooks, while others learned with the AI-generated materials, allowing researchers to compare outcomes.
