CEPT University hosts BUILDSPAN 2025 on Engineers’ Day, challenging students to design and build model bridges with innovation, strength & creativity.
CEPT University will host BUILDSPAN 2025, a hands-on bridge designing and making competition, on Engineers’ Day, September 13, 2025, on its campus. The event invites students to apply creativity, technical expertise, and teamwork to design and construct model bridges under real-world constraints.
With the theme “Engineering the Future: Build One Bridge at a Time”, BUILDSPAN 2025 – an initiative by the Faculty of Technology at CEPT University, is envisioned not just as a competition but as a platform for young innovators to test ideas, push boundaries, and celebrate the synergy of engineering and design.
Participants will be tasked with designing, building, and testing bridges for strength, performance, and aesthetics using materials provided by the organizers. The challenge aims to ignite innovation while fostering collaboration and embodying the true spirit of engineering.
The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from engineering, architecture, design, and urban design programs. Students can participate in teams of up to four members and register for a fee of ₹4,000 per team.
All submissions will be reviewed by the organizing committee, and the models will be evaluated by experts. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of ₹20,000.
Commenting on the initiative, Prof. Komal Parikh, faculty member and in-charge of the event, said, “BUILDSPAN is designed to challenge young minds to think beyond textbooks, apply engineering principles to real-world problems, and experience the excitement of building something tangible. Through this competition, we aim to celebrate Engineers’ Day by nurturing creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.”
