The decision follows recent clashes, with the college assigning responsibility for events to official committees to ensure better discipline, coordination, and accountability in organizing campus activities and programs.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College under Delhi University has barred its students’ union from organizing or managing campus events, following disruptions reported during recent college fests.
In a notice issued by Principal Arun Kumar Attree, the college said all cultural activities, including annual fests and freshers programs, will now be conducted exclusively by the Cultural Committee and the Functions Committee.

These bodies include both faculty members and students to ensure oversight and coordination.
The directive states that the students’ union will not be permitted to organize, conduct, or participate in event management on behalf of the college.
It also restricts the union from seeking permissions, entering collaborations, or collecting funds and sponsorships for such events. The administration warned that any violations would be dealt with under college regulations.
The decision comes after safety concerns were raised following incidents during fest events earlier this month. On April 6, a clash during a college fest reportedly involved several students, including members of the union, leading to the suspension of around 10 students.
College authorities said the students’ union should focus on representing student interests and welfare rather than managing large-scale events.
They added that assigning responsibility to designated committees is expected to improve discipline, coordination, and accountability.
The move signals a tighter regulatory approach to campus events, with the administration emphasizing structured management and safety in college activities.
